Outdoor fabric care instructions

Keep upholstery fabric for outdoor furniture safe from fungi.

Even though the furniture upholstery fabric is specifically made for outdoor use, if our climate is hot and humid with heavy rain, the fabric will have high humidity, making it a source of mold easily.

The fabric is coated with a special substance to prevent mold (Anti-Fungal), yes, there is a chance if food scraps fall for a long time, mold may grow in specific spots, including the inner materials
such as sponges, foam mixed with polyester fibers, or foam mixed with cotton linen fibers that are not coated with anti-fungal substances. When there is moisture and meets with stains, drinks, and food that are food for mold, such as beer, wine, liquor, fruit juice, butter, bread crumbs, and even sunscreen, the mold can grow even better and spread to the outer fabric.

In general, you can follow the care instructions for each fabric according to the symbols with explanations in our catalog. If you have any questions about it, you can always reach us. With these tips below, you can make your favorite outdoor furniture last longer.

  • Clean the specific spot with a cloth.

Use a cloth dampened with water or soapy water to wipe away food and drink residue that may contaminate the fabric every day. Even though some upholstery fabrics are coated with anti-fungal agents, mold can still grow in specific food residue and accumulate or fall along the edges or grooves over time. Therefore, after wiping, you should use a dry cloth to wipe clean again and wait for it to dry completely for 15-30 minutes.

  • Use a vacuum cleaner or duster when there is a large amount of sand and dirt.

For furniture placed in the garden or by the sea, there may be a lot of sand stuck to the fabric. Use a vacuum cleaner or a duster to remove the sand and sea stains first. Then use a damp cloth to wipe it as per above.

  • For semi-outdoor use, keep it dry by leaving it in the shade or gentle sunlight in the morning or evening.

For furniture used in semi-outdoor mode, it should be dried in the shade or in a ventilated area in the morning or evening every day to allow the fabric to dry completely, preventing musty odors and mold. Be careful not to place it directly on the cement floor, ground, or sand because it is a source of moisture accumulation.

  • When you don’t use it, store it in a shady place or cover it with a canvas.

Furniture should not be left outdoors at night as there may be dew or rain. Furniture should be stored indoors or, if there is no storage space, a tarpaulin should be used to cover it. After cleaning, wait for the fabric to dry completely following the first 2 steps to preserve the furniture from moisture and prevent mold.

  • Do not use a hard brush to clean the fabric.

Do not use a hard brush to clean because it will affect the fabric coating. Use a soft brush, such as a soft toothbrush, to gently scrub the stained area. Or you can use a sponge.
